Here are a few things you should know
about how I put this site together:
- Printing, saving, emailing photos—
I
try to use 4x6 (or close) proportions as much as possible so that if you
want to print photos, they will print out near a standard photo/frame
size (you can modify for 3x5, 5x7, 8x10, etc.).
Okay, I started making some photos non-standard size/proportion because
they just didn't look good at all without being cropped. These are
usually the very long (horizontally-long) photos you'll see when you
click on the small "thumbnail" versions and get the full-sized photo.
If you need the original electronic version of the photo, uncropped,
please email me and I'll send it to you.
- Print from the full-size photos you'll see
after you click the small "thumbnail" ones.
- If you right-click a photo, you should get a
pop-up box with various options including save picture, email picture,
print picture, set as background (make it your screen background),
etc., depending on which operating system you're running on your PC.
The only place this won't work is on the home page slide show photos
just under the home page title/banner and main menu; however, these
photos appear elsewhere in the site.
- Thumbnails—I
use small thumbnail photos on most pages since the pages would load
very slowly on your PCs if I used photos full-size (even though a
page full of full-size photos would look better).
- Vertical photos—The few vertical photos
may not show up
quite full-size when you click their small versions. However, if you see
an orange button on the bottom right of the enlarged vertical picture
when your mouse is over the picture, it will
enlarge it to true full size if you click the orange button (and it will have better resolution, too).
- Captions—Please tell me if in a caption, I misidentified a
player or was completely inaccurate in describing a play! I try to identify
everyone I can possibly figure out in most photos (based on jersey #,
size, whether it was offensive or defensive play, shoe style, mouth
guard color, face mask color/style, arm or rib pads, etc.)
- Yes, you'll see my son showing up often in the
photos; I'm definitely here to take
pictures of my kid for our family photo album! Many times last
year he
was in pictures with other teammates, so I didn't want to not use
a good photo of the other players just because Brian was also in it.
So...you'll have to put up with seeing him a lot,
but it also means that the defense will get its fair share of
photos—which does not always happen in football coverage.
- I try to take a similar number of shots at all games.
However, I've noticed that if my husband can't come to help watch our
younger son, or if I'm spending more time helping with first aid, water,
etc., I don't get quite as many shots as in other games. Since I
have a coach's badge to allow me to be in the coach's box for photos,
I'm also able to help there or on the field with other things that come
up.
- I try to take all kinds of photos of all kinds of
plays (plus plenty of non-game shots) so I'll be sure to get good photos
of everyone; this worked out well last season.
- I sometimes include a few less-than-great (slightly
fuzzy focus) photos because they still show some good action.
- Finally, I don't know how much I will be able to do
this year, since I am starting to substitute teach this fall.
We'll see how limited my time becomes for web site work.
I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as
much as I do.
Thanks,
Lauri McIntosh
