Cherry Oatmeal Crisp


1 21-ounce can cherry pie filling
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter or margarine
Whipped cream or ice cream, optional


Spread cherry pie filling into an greased 9-inch square cake pan.  In a bowl, combine the next six ingredients.  Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  Sprinkle over filling.  Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.  Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.  Yield: 6-8 servings.


A delicious, traditional cherry crisp with a buttery oatmeal topping.
