Date Fudge
2 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup milk or cream
1 cup dates, chopped
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons white corn syrup
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
In a medium saucepan, add all ingredients except nuts. Cook
over medium heat until soft ball stage - mixture forms a soft ball in
cold water. Remove mixture from stove and beat until stiff. Add nuts and
pour into a buttered 9-inch x 13-inch pan. Let set up and cut into
squares.
This recipe was handed down by Todd's great-grandmother Ola (Viola Gares), who made Date
Fudge every year for Christmas.
