My family name is Glennie, and we come from a town between Aberdeen and Inverness in the Grampian Highlands called Tolafraic (I'm not sure of the spelling.) Are you familiar with a town of that name?

Greetings, clansmen. My grandfather Norman and his two brothers Duncan and Andrew (I think) came to New Zealand in the early 1900s. Andrew moved to Australia and we have lost touch with that side of the family. Norman's mother also came to New Zealand and set up a maternity hospital in the town of Methven. If anyone has any information regarding the family, please email.

Some part of the family emigrated to Peace River. Great to see the page, would be interested in attending a gathering or reunion. Cheers, Mhari

I was born in Morrisburg, Ontario. I have a history of my family from about 1811. It was put together by a lady in Morrisburg. History is very important and I have quite a few old pictures. Nice to know there is somewhere I can go to further delve into the McIntosh family.

Celia McIntosh born 1797 and died 1850. She married Josiah Buskirk in 1835 in KY, and said to be the d/o Jacob McIntosh. This Jacob would have been born in the 1700's. Anyone with information on this Jacob, please e-mail me. Celia and Josiah lived in Highland township of Greene Co., Indiana. Still McIntosh's in that area, and I am related to them on the Vandeventer side as well as the Buskirk side. Great site.

I was born Deborah McIntosh on 11-19-58 in the district of Springburn, the Burgh of Glasgow, 670 Hawthron Street, my parents were Robert McIntosh and Elisabeth Gourlay McIntosh, M.S. McGraw. We immigrated to the U.S. in 1960. My parents divorced not too long after, after several years I was adopted. I know the only family on my father's side still lives in Scotland. My father died a few years ago, he lived in Arizona until his death. My mother lives in California somewhere, she never kept in touch, I never knew anyone from her family. I did meet my grandmother and aunt on my father's side from Scotland once. I have talked to my Aunt Margaret once or twice quite a few years ago, and would like to try to find her again. Can anyone help?

I am the descendant of George Esson 1776-1851 who left Kincardine,Tulliallen Parish, Perthshire, Scotland in May 1820 to come to Upper Canada (Ontario). Family has mostly stayed in Ontario but am looking for other relatives. Would be pleased to find any information on the "Esson's" in Scotland. It seems that we helped make the McIntoshes what they are but information on "Septs" is hard to find. The name Esson has numerous spellings Esaon, Esson, Easson, Easton. etc. Any Information on Esson Prior to 1820 or Esson's out of Onatrio after 1820 would be welcome. Just got Internet service this week. What a great find! You're doing a fantastic job, Todd. I am interested in possibly doing some genealogical research on my branch of the McIntosh's. We are descendants of John McIntosh of Scotland who was bound for the southern USA in 1760 (approx.) when he was shipwrecked off the coast of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The family settled on the island originally, and gradually descendants have spread out over the country all the way to Vancouver Island on the Pacific Coast.

TOUCH NOT THE CAT, BOT A GLOVE !! Greetings from New Brunswick, Canada !! My GGGG Grandfather, ALEXANDER MACINTOSH (1733-1802),along with his wife Janet, emigrated from Inverness, Scotland in 1776 to a place near Schenectady, along the Mohawk River in New York. His youngest of 7 children, JOHN MACINTOSH (b1777), emigrated to Iroquois, Ontario, Canada in 1796 and married HANNA DORIN (1782-1857) and they eventually traded farms with Hanna's brother in an area now known as Dundela, Ontario. While clearing brush, John found about 20 small APPLE TREES which he transplanted, however, 1 surpassed the others in flavor. John's son ALLAN MACINTOSH (1815-1889) tended the tree and grew new shoots from the seeds, but knew nothing of budding or grafting. It is said that a unknown labourer on the MacIntosh Farm showed Allan how to reproduce the variety successfully. Allan who was also a circuit-riding lay preacher, filled his saddlebags with these apples to give to his parishioners. Known first as GRANNY'S APPLE (by visiting youth and grandchildren) the MacIntosh Apple eventually became one of the world's most popular varieties. Allan, in turn had 7 children including my GG Grandfather EZRA MACINTOSH (1853-1924). His son ADEN MACINTOSH (my grandfather) came to New Brunswick in 1914, and practiced over 40 years as a country doctor in the Perth-Andover area until his death in 1955. Many of his grandchildren remain in the area.

This is a pleasant surprise! I can't say I know all that much about my McIntosh heritage, although I did write a paper on the McIntosh charge at Culloden Moor in 1745 when I was in high school. I also visited Moy Hall in Inverness for the Highland Games in 1988 and met the Mackintosh (RIP). My great-uncle, J. Rieman McIntosh, was very involved in the genealogy of our family and the history of the clan. I must try to continue where he left off.

Beginning to research my ancestors. Have little information. Father's name Robert Charles McFall. Grew up in Syracuse, N.Y. Sister Elizabeth. My grandfather Charles McFall, grandmother Reva. Grandfather believed to be one of three boys with surname originally MacFall, other brothers: Henry McFall married to Gladyes, and Gene (Jean) MacFall. Possibly came from Canada. No other information known. Would appreciate any information. Current address of my father Robert McFall unknown.

What a great page! I'm married to Frank G. McIntosh, gg-grandson of John Og McIntosh, whose parents were John and Margaret Og McIntosh, from Invernessshire, near Moy, Scotland. John Og was studying to be doctor a when he joined the British army, along with his uncle, Dr. John Og, to fight the colonists. Dr. Og was killed and young John later was captured by Gen. Morgan at the battle of Cowpens. He later worked as overseer of General Morgan's plantation in Va. There he met and married Sara Bennett and they later moved to KY and then settled in Mt. Carmel, Ill. I'm glad John Og McIntosh stayed in the US so I could meet my husband. We would love to find out more about McIntosh and Og families in Scotland. Thanks for all the wonderful posts.

I am very happy to see so much information on the net regarding the clans. We Clarke's of Savannah, GA have been unable to decide which clan our affiliation lies with. We have family ties with several well-known septs. If anyone has any information on how to figure this out, please e-mail me. I have two children of my own,2 sisters,1 nephew, both parents, an uncle,& many cousins that are all Clarke's by birth. We do know that our ascendants settled here in the early 1700's directly from Scotland, but that's about as far as it goes. Thanks for the info.

Especially enjoyed the reunion minutes. Can't describe the feeling I got reading about my mother, Margaret Helen McIntosh entertaining at the reunion many years before I was born. This last Christmas we returned home (first time about 8 years) and we took our laptop and hooked up to the Internet to show her the McIntosh page. For years she worked as a writer for newspapers in the area and she always wrote articles of the family McIntosh Reunions for those newspapers. She enjoyed your web site and every thing she read seemed to remind her of stories that happened back then. While her health is failing, her mind is clear and her memory is excellent, and her stories are very interesting. She sends her love and anyone who would like to contact her can do so by writing Margaret Gray, Box 75, Keosauqua, IA 52565

This is an update: I am a descendant of Duncan McIntosh (1836 - 1915) who immigrated from Telecutry to New York State, and from there, moved to Almont Ontario. He was married to Isabelle Brambelle (1843-1925) and their children were Dan (b. 1868), Dave (b. 1870), John (b. 1872), William (b. 1874), Robert (b. 1876), Walter (b. 1879) and Gordon (1884).
