1999

The 70th Annual Clan McIntosh Reunion was held at the enclosed shelter house at Rodeo Park in Ft. Madison, Iowa, on Sunday, September 19th, 1999. Over 90 people attended the reunion, enjoying a potluck dinner, visiting, and renewing family ties.   Several first-time Clan McIntosh attendees were welcomed, including James and June McIntosh, of Metairie, Louisiana, and Ken Medulan, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

President Bill McIntosh presided over the meeting.   Jeneale Zumdome played the “Mackintosh Lament” and then gave a little history about the song. Bill McIntosh read a passage from the Bible – John 3:11-17.   Jeaneale then gave a report on the condition of F.W. “Mac” McIntosh after his surgery. The reading of the 1998 minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and approved with the amendment of $896.24 left in the treasury.

In new business, Bill asked everyone to be thinking about the election of new officers, to be held in the September 2000 meeting.   It was announced that Jene Carroll would donate five signs to be used to help us locate the reunion each year.    The hosts for each reunion will be responsible for placing the signs.  

A motion was for everyone to bring a meat dish instead of having the meat provided at the reunion. The motioned was seconded and carried.  

Another motion was made to host the Clan McIntosh Reunion at Indian Lake Park in Farmington, Iowa in the year 2000.    The motion was seconded and carried.   Ronald and Sandra McIntosh of Farmington, Iowa volunteered to be the hosts of the reunion in 2000.  

A beautiful china cup and saucer emblazoned with the McIntosh emblem was auctioned off to the highest bidder.   Edna Maryland McIntosh Phillips had the high bid of $100.00 and went home with the keepsake.

1998

The 69th Annual Clan McIntosh Reunion was held at the Lacy-Keosauqua State Park Lodge in Keosauqua, Iowa, on Sunday, September 20th, 1998. Over 120 people attended the reunion, enjoying a potluck dinner, visiting, and renewing family ties. Several first-time Clan McIntosh attendees were welcomed, including Bryan and Michelle Long and their children, Trace, Kayla, and Alyssa, of Oquawka, Illinois, and Christina Padavitch and her children Zachary and Zane, of Ottumwa, Iowa.

In the absence of President Bill McIntosh, F.W. "Mac" McIntosh presided over the meeting. Jeneale Zumdome gave a scriptural reading from the Bible. The reading of the 1997 minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and approved with the amendment of $874 left in the treasury.

F.W. "Mac" McIntosh showed a photograph taken at the 1927 McIntosh Reunion, and asked people for help in identifying the people in the photograph. Mac also talked about the history and origins of the surname McIntosh.

Four hats donated by Jene Carroll were auctioned off to the highest bidders. Jene also presented an engraved beer mug to Mac.

1997

The 68th Annual Clan McIntosh Reunion was held at the O-Mak-O-Hak Park shelter house in Kahoka, Missouri, on Sunday, September 21, 1997. Over 175 people attended the reunion, enjoying a potluck dinner, visiting, and renewing family ties. Several first-time Clan McIntosh attendees were welcomed, including Alyce and Donald Nilius and their son, Brandon, of Knoxville, Iowa, and Lauri McIntosh of Plano, Texas. Jo Ann McIntosh Zimmerman, former Lieutenant Governor of the State of Iowa, also attended.

After the dinner, F.W. "Mac" McIntosh, of Corona, California, talked about his research on John McIntosh, the earliest known McIntosh ancestor. Bill McIntosh opened the meeting by dedicating this year's reunion to Brandie Kearns and Wayne Hoewing, who were tragically murdered in Canton, Missouri this summer. Bill McIntosh then led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, which was followed by a reading from the ancestral Bible of Daniel Boone McIntosh, given by David Wayne McIntosh of Virginia.

The 1996 reunion minutes and treasurer's report were read and approved, with $821.31 left in the treasury.

A special certificate of appreciation was presented to Margaret Helen McIntosh Gray for her lifetime contribution as public relations coordinator for Clan McIntosh. Her husband, Lloyd, accepted the certificate in her absence.

F.W. McIntosh made a motion to keep the current officers for another two-year term in office. The motion was seconded and passed by general consensus.

1996

The 67th Annual Clan McIntosh Reunion was held at the Izaak Walton Lodge in Ft. Madison, Iowa, on Sunday, September 15th, 1996. Over 99 people attended the reunion, enjoying a potluck dinner, visiting, and renewing family ties. Several first-time Clan McIntosh attendees were welcomed, including Dorothy Gillespie of Nappa, California, and Holly Peterson of Loma Linda, California, grand-daughter of F.W. McIntosh.

President Bill McIntosh opened the meeting after the potluck dinner by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Jeneale Zumdome then followed with a reading from the ancestral Bible of Daniel Boone McIntosh.

A card was sent to James Elmo McIntosh, 62, who is now a resident of a convalescent home in Lewistown, Missouri. It was announced that Lloyd and Margaret Gray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 22, 1996.

Todd McIntosh, secretary, sent a letter expressing his regret at not being able to attend the reunion and giving an account of his visit with The Mackintosh of Mackintosh in Inverness, Scotland. Leland Boecker, vice-president, substituted for Todd during the meeting.

The reading of the 1995 minutes were read and approved. The treasurer's report was read and approved with the amendment of $429 left in the treasury.

Craig McIntosh and Bill McIntosh spoke about the Highland Games they attended in Springfield, Illinois, and showed photographs they had taken there.

A genealogy book written by Todd McIntosh, titled McIntosh Family History, was displayed, as well a manuscript written by F.W. McIntosh, titled Summary of the Chiefs of Clan Mackintosh.

1995

Ninety one clan members attended the 66th annual McIntosh Reunion on Sunday, September 17, 1995, at the Lacey-Keosauqua State Park Lodge. Guest of the clan included Jane Chennault, fiancé of F.W. McIntosh, both from Corona, California; Mary Lalli, from Ottumwa, Iowa; Gene and Ramona Clark, members of the Van Buren County Historical and Genealogy Groups, from Stockport, Iowa.

After a delicious meal of barbecue pork donated by James McIntosh, he read a few lines from the Bible. Then everyone joined in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Then everyone enjoyed listening to some Scottish music donated by Todd McIntosh of Plano, Texas.

The reading of last year's minutes was read and approved. The treasurer's report was given with $443.00 left after everything was paid.

One hundred and one clan members attended the 65th annual McIntosh reunion on Sunday Sept. 18, 1994 at the Canton, Missouri City Park.

After a delicious meal, Jim McIntosh read from the Bible. The meeting was opened with everyone saying the pledge of Allegiance.

The reading of last years minutes was read and approved. The treasurer's report was given with $324.00 left after everything was paid.

President Clinton recognized the Clan McIntosh Reunion in a letter.

There was a gong show played where a McIntosh Button was given to the winner - Robley A. McIntosh. The button read "I got gonged at the McIntosh Reunion 1994".

Forty-five clan members attended the 64th annual McIntosh Reunion, Sunday September 19, 1993, at Center Point Chapel in Keosauqua, Iowa. After a delicious potluck dinner was served, a passage was read outside by the stone. The meeting was opened with everybody reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

The reading of last year's minutes was read and approved. The treasurer's report was given with $345.00 left after everything was paid. A special thanks was given to everyone who donated money for finishing paying for the stone and rebuilding our treasury account.

Louise House read some correspondence and shared some pictures. She also had a letter from Francis McIntosh to the Mayor of Farmington.  It was read at the meeting.

A motion was made for down the road usage to hold onto the money for books, stone, etc., with the decision of the members of the board.  A second motion was made by Archie McIntosh.  Bill McIntosh made a motion to make repairs to the old stone to get it to stand up. Further discussions will be held later.

The officers will look into the Community Hall in Farmington, Iowa for next year’s reunion.  It will be held on September 18, 1994.  Reminder cards will be sent out. The election of officers was changed to be held next year. Catherine Barker found a book belonging to her father. The meeting was adjourned.

Sixty-seven clan members attended the 63rd annual McIntosh Reunion, Sunday, September 20, 1992, at the Zumdome Farm, Ft. Madison, Iowa. Vincent and Jeneale Zumdome and son Greg, furnished barbecue pork and chicken along with drinks of choice during a delicious potluck dinner.

The meeting was opened with the minutes of last years meeting being read by Jeneale Zuadome. The treasurers report was given $290.00 + $83.02 from 1992 reunion totaled $373.02.

The next reunion will be held on September 19, 1993 in Keosauqua, Iowa. Reminder cards will be sent out before the reunion. In closing the meeting, everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

1991

Eighty-five clan members attended the 62nd annual McIntosh Reunion Sunday Sept. 15, 1991 at the Zumdome Farms, Ft. Madison, Iowa. Vincent and Jeneale Zumdome and son Greg, furnished Bar-B-Que pork and chicken along with drinks of choice during a pot luck dinner.

Following the dinner, games were played prior to the business meeting. Conducted by the President Louse House, Vice President Duane Barker and Secretary Jeneale Zumdome.

The meeting was opened with J.J. Boyd of Des Moines, Iowa holding the American Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance was said. A few bars of McIntosh bagpipe music was played from a history tape, followed by a reading of scripture from an 1882 Bible belonging to Daniel Boone McIntosh of Milton, Iowa. The Bible, along with old McIntosh pictures and family mementos saved by deceased Margaret Ann McIntosh/Werts/Strait, sister of Daniel, was presented the clan by her husband, Bruce Strait of Keosauqua, Iowa.

The 1990 minutes were read and approved and treasurers report was given. Donations totaled $100.14.

  • Harold L. Robbins, husband of Alice Dell (McIntosh) Robbins, died Friday, July 12, 1991 at Burlington Medical Center with cancer.
  • Tammy Kay (Hyatt) Newlon daughter of Mrs. Dale Hyatt, grand daughter of Bonnie McIntosh Johnson, was killed in a car crash by a drunk driver on March 30, 1991 in Keokuk, Iowa.

F.W. McIntosh, in traditional Scottish Kilt and attire presented the clan members as a group, with a book on the History of Clan Mackintosh and the Clan Chattan by Margaret Mackintosh of Mackintosh, Scotland. The book was revised and updated by her son Lachlan Mackintosh (Moy Hall) the present chief of the clan.

Jeneale Zumdome will serve a keeper of the book and clan members may borrow it to read and return it to her. He also presented a large printed copy of the clan crest, with vocal description and meaning. He told of attending the recent Santa Rosa Highland Games and visited with the current chief, The Mackintosh of Mackintosh, and wife Cecelia who were visiting from Scotland. McIntosh is the National Clan Historian.

The meeting was adjourned until September 20, 1992. It will be held at the Zumdome Farm, Ft. Madison, Iowa.

1990

The 61st Annual Clan McIntosh Reunion was held Sunday September 16, 1990, at the Vincent Zumdome Farm. There was 62 people attending. After a delicious meal of barbeque pork and chicken, our president Louise House called the business meeting to order.

The minutes were read and approved. The treasury report was in the bank. We passed the hat. Jeneale Zumdome was paid $52.00 for flowers for funerals, etc. It was approved and second.

Margaret Gray gave a little history on the present clan, and then presented the clan with an America Flag donated by Harvey Spurgeon. Her grandchildren will see that the flag will be here for every meeting.

For business, the clan talked about a new head marker for George McIntosh and wife. Francis Garrels of Birmingham, Iowa volunteered to look in to the matter further. A decision will be made then. Louise House gave prices on the markers.

The meeting was adjourned until September 15, 1991. It will be held at the Zumdome farm.
