In the Footsteps of Jesus

So opposite the stereotype
Power used only for others
Living definition of a hero
Jesus...a Man of joy!
Hanging on the cross
What a Guy!
He loves you SO much!

. . . so opposite the stereotype of an aloof and mystical Christ . . .

Jesus heals two blind men on the Jericho Road. (Bruce Marchiano in "Matthew")Oh, what a surprise lay in store!  Every day (studying for the role), every day on the set was a lifetime of uncovering treasures of  indescribable passion, care, and giving beyond giving.  With all I’d previously known; with all the sermons I’d heard and all the hymns I’d sung, I knew nothing.  The intimacy, the devotion, the heart-cry, the eye-to-eye attention, the purity, the passion—so much more than any of us can wrap our minds around.  An explosion of unbridled involvement so opposite the stereotype of an aloof and mystical Christ with arms outstretched and eyes locked heavenward.

Text and photo taken from In the Footsteps of Jesus, by Bruce Marchiano
(p. 92).  In Footsteps, Bruce takes readers on an intimate journey into the life of Christ as he describes the Jesus of joy he discovered while immersed in filming The Visual Bible™'s "Matthew."
